Christmas Time

We are enjoying the run up to Christmas (apart from the Jehovah's who have to find a different use for doilies and glitter in case they are shunned by their beloved parents for indulging in tradition). I myself am a complete atheist but, possessing a kitsch streak, love any element of religion or tradition that allows lights or origami to be used in my classroom. We have had a whale of a time with peg doll fairies and 3D stars and anything that I can rustle up from the 50p art budget. This is the time I truly see my kids enjoying school. A bit of cutting out n sticking down, glitter n pipe cleaners turning the room into a junior occupational therapy session. I've paid a small fortune out of my own pocket but.......it's fab! I get all my little jobs done and the kids do old fashioned kids' stuff they sadly lack the opportunity to do throughout the year. So as an aetheist, I'd like to big up the Baby Jesus for giving me a couple of great days, feeling like Miss Honey instead of Miss Trunchbull, gearing up for SATs. I just wish the Jehovah's could get a grip and let their hair down.
